My 10" concentric coil must be feeling the pressure

The other day I ordered a 11"DD coil and I have been tracking it on the UPS website. It is currently sitting at the local UPS hub waiting to be delivered to me tomorrow. I went out for a quick hunt today and found gold! I've been in this great hobby for almost five years and this is only the second piece of gold that I have found. The first was within my first year and it was found with my F2.(I've only had the F70 since April). It isn't much, but it all adds up in the end. This was found at a youth soccer field at a depth of 2-3". I have been told that this is called a wishbone ring.

Very nice find, congrats.

That 10" concentric coil is telling you it still has a place in the coil line up.

You are not buying better just different.

Good luck,

Ron in WV

I've never seen a ring like that before. It looks more like a buckle. Nice !

He was clued in, that is called a double wishbone ring.
Really cool and unique, even if it wasn't gold.

I have been in contact with him since yesterday.
He got the new coil and got out with it for 1.5 hours before darkness set in at this great old site he has near him with much history.
It had an old school on this site for years and more history before that.
He messaged me he was disappointed that he didn't find silver immediately...and I laughed.
This site is 3 acres large.
He did find a 1909 wheat at 8" fairly easily from what I can gather with the new coil...I told him he should be jumping for joy about that instead.

Considering he just increased the scanning field on his F70 down a few inches deeper plus the fact that the length of that field down deep just went from about one square inch to about 11" he does not know what he is in for at a site like that...yet.

He will soon find out and will know what we know.

Thanks everyone! I'm getting ready to head back out there again for more results. Here is a pic of the wheat penny that REVIER had mentioned.

Like mentioned, it was 8" deep, it is a 1909 (no mint mark)

Our rule of thumb around here is, if your finding wheat pennies, silver will come.

Century old copper and in great condition. The silver you will find there should be in very good condition. Good luck and keep us posted.

If we do a little math estimating as good of condition as that penny is I would say it was carried no more than a hand full of years. That would put it in the ground a little over a 100 years.

Way to go,

Ron in WV

I found one way shallower than that and I was thrilled so you should be...happier.
