MXT

Is there really that big of a difference between the different mxt models.

"A big difference"? My opinion, No. I'm sure I'll get a lot of others disagreeing with me. To each their own.

I myself, line the reg. MXT. I got one when they first came out and it still works as good as it did when new. I did just get a new demo model that had never been used just to have as a back up just in case. Whites don,t make them any more, they still work on them. The back light is the only thing that would be good for me, I can't here the tones anyway.I think I got a very good deal on the one I just got $299.00 shipped to my home. Can't beat that. I think you will like any you get. Good luck

The MXT (all) Pro has
7 tones
Ground grab
Back light

The trigger forward is different
The Pro is locked pinpoint
MXT goes into another search selection

I think all the MXT models are good, just a few minor changes but that is it really,, you can't reinvent the Wheel.

machines not are doing nothing special that the first MXT did not do 16 years ago and the latest MXT model is up holding that tradition.

HUGE DIFFERENCE.

The older models are . . . . . . . . . . . . . .OLDER. :bouncy:

I have an All Pro I picked up used in LIKE NEW condition. Currently, I am not using the multi-tones for the type of hunting I do. That could change. I do like having the Tones, ground grab and backlight button right in front of me.

There are enough MXT's out there that you should be able to find a used one that's been well taken care of at a reasonable price.

Good luck.

Keep an eye out for a used MXT I just scored an MXT Pro with the Ultimate 13 coil, 12 X 10 SEF coil, 300MM coil, 4 x 7 Excelerator coil, 5 X 7 SEF coil, all with lower shafts. It also came with headphones, and RnB battery with charger for the car and home, and a bullseye II pinpointer for 600 bucks buy it now on ebay. There are great deals out there!! Now I just need to figure out what I want to keep coil wise. The headphones are jolly rogers and those will go. The pinpointer will go, and so will the 300 MM coil.

Have just snagged a new MXT 300 with 2 batteries for $226 from Ebay, have most of the coils from my DFX that will fit,but will probably just use it with my SEF 8x6 coil and RNB battery pack as a backup detector.Very pleased with the result.Always wanted to try a MXT and if a decent one came along at a reasonable price then i may well buy one,and just done lol.

Cool mate well done, Once learned they are the perfect machine to take to new or unknown sites where you need a machine where you can't afford to worry about the settings,, Those new 14x10 Coils I bought are about 1/2 an ounce lighter than the factory 10" DD,

Good Luck. HH.

Is that 14x12 Detech as deep as the 15'' Max Pro ?? the 14x12 is cheaper on the Bay at the moment, but just wanted it for a total pot hunter lol

The 14x10 has the best Balance of any Coil starting with the 10" DD and all the bigger coils,, The 14x10 weighs 659.2 Grams including the Cover and the lead and the Plug and the 15" MXT Max Coil weighs 1047 grams and you really know it's On there the 14x10 is 16 grams lighter than the factory 10" DD, I can air test the 14x10 and the 15" MXT Max Coil for you if you wish.

@sweeper60,if you could do a very basic test, its just to give me a basic idea on which is the best option, most of the coils that i have for the DFX will of course work just fine, infact actually i may just stick my 12'' Hotshot coil on,then that is even lighter than the 12'' stock coil that came with the MXT and that is my all time favourite everyday coil, and also may put the DX-1 Probe back on.

Must admit i had forgotten about the Hotshot coil, have just dusted it down lol

Right there is less that 20mm to an inch between the 14x10 and the 15" MXT Max Coil,, and someone also tested the 18" Excelerator DD coil to the 14x10 and there was only about 20mm difference between them on Dug / Test bed targets, Sp it appears that my test were right when I said that a 15" Concentric was/is equal to an 18" DD.

with the MXT in the standard Relic mode it will Chirp on the Vicky Penny between 17.5 to 18" max and the 15" MXT Max Coil will Chirp between 18 to 18.5/19", But being a Concentric it might loose a little in the Ground due to mineralization So I would have to give the upper hand to the 14x10 at a pinch and as the ground hots up the 15" Coil will loose a bit more.

One thing to note is that in the mixed mode you can add another 10" to those depths, So you can get a heck of a signal at 20 to 22 inches easily, Ok.

Excellent machine and price!!! I know you'll be well pleased with it. HH, Nancy

@Nancy-IL ,thanks for that, the MXT is about 2 years old and bought by a old chap and put in a cupboard and never used,he passed away recently so the son is selling it,as far as i can tell the batteries should be fine, its not a worry anyway as i would only use them as say a back, but a do have a couple of new RNB batteries from the DFX that i use, these fit straight into the MXT and last certainly twice as long as a stock battery and possibly much longer and also lighter as well.

Still please with such a bargain and should be here by mid week, just found my DX-1 probe which i have not used for a long time and that will fit straight onto the new machine, always wanted to try one of these detectors and also a backup machine does not go a miss does it not lol

Mega,

You will love the RNBs in there. I sure do like mine. Sounds like you're all set for the MXT and with that DX1 pinpointer, it's a top machine. IMHO. That's another item I would not be without. Since you have the DFX, all the coils will it the MXT Don't be surprised if your DFX gets a bit dusty after you start running your MXT.

HH and keep us posted,

Nancy

I have the MXT PRO I like the sun ray probe switch it to probe .. flip that trigger toggle forward in lock pin point and it will tell you where the target is right thru the head phones ..

Sweeper, who makes the 14x10?

yeah mate, it is the Detech 14x10 Excelerator EQ2 Pro, you can buy them new for about £99.99 or $124.00 ISD,, I was that impressed when it turned up that I ordered another one right away, and it weighs 16grams / 1/2 an ounce lighter than the factory 10"DD including the lead, coil cover and the plug, and on coins you will get an extra couple of inches and on larger items it really makes a difference,

IE I was swinging my prospecting Pick and it was picking up my pick at 4 and a half to 5 feet away,

most of the Whites coils are very sensitive but in Hot ground this can work against you where the 14x10 has it just about perfect and it Balances the MXT perfectly and it a pleasure to Swing, and it will fit in to tighter place where the 12"/300 coil and the 13" Ultimate won't.

Hope this helps.
