Hi guys been a while since my last post. Anyways I'm waiting on a brand new mxt. my question is If I put the MXT on prospecting mode and just swing it in the park will it pick up a gold rings if there was one in the ground?
 
Someone with more experience may do a better job of explaining. I don't think there is a need to put in prospecting mode. I run in coin and jewelry mode and just run discrim at about 2.25. If you're banging nickels and pull tabs, any gold will register. Also, dig all foil targets down to zero. Yes zero. Platinum is really low on VDI.
 
Yes the prospecting mode will work, some times I will use it when hunting coins also. You really should try hunting in the prospecting and relic mode you might find that you like those modes better then coin and jewelry. Your VDI numbers wont be the same and you will get different tones for Ferrous and nonferrous metals.
