MXT-XLT at the beach?

Can anyone give me an idea as how well the XLT works at the beach verses the MXT. I love the MXT in the dry sand but wet sand is not that good. Will the XLT do better in the wet sand and is it as sensitive as the MXT?

to use either a Classic III or IDX Pro or the XL Pro when beach hunting in the 'wet zone.'
The main reason is that they have instant manual control of the Discriminate mode (knobs) rather than the punch and scroll of the XLT.
I did fairly well on the Oregon beaches with the MXT, but I had to make sure that I stayed in a consistent zone (always a good idea) rather than work towards and away from the water. Also, as with dry land hunting, I preferred to set the GB and then lock it rather than let it autotrack.
