MXT vs. MXT PRO Comparison

Reggie

My MXT PRO is enroute to me. I used an MXT almost exclusively for 2 full years, and as a backup machine after that, so I am very familiar with how good the MXTs are. For those of you who have already owned an MXT: Please compare your experience between the MXT and the MXT PRO thus far.

I want to know how you rate the MXT PRO as compared with the standard MXT, in all aspects you can. For example: do the added tones do you any real good? What about the variability of 2 tones, 10 tones, etc. Do the additional tones speak to you better than just 2 tones?

I used to hunt coins in Relic mode just to get 2 tones. What is your experience and opinions? Thanks.

i'm here. don't own either machines. just looking for plus or minus of ownership. looking to buy a new main or good back-up.:detecting:

Well, I used the M-6 for a while and liked the tone id, had several MXT's, and one 300 and now have the MXT Pro.
To me, the tones are a help, from what I have seen, if the tone is not right in sound, the target is trash.
Some can tell that from a single tone, but I am not one.
One other difference, in the C & J mode, if you lock the trigger forward on the Reg. MXT, you notch out most tabs,
but on the Pro, it just locks it in all metal mode...
I never used the notch any way...

I have the older MXT and I love the feature of 2 tones for relic hunting. I would like the different tones for coin shooting so I don't have to keep looking at the screen. I like the pro package with tones and the 300 coil. Just my 2 cents :beers:

I have been looking at the Whites MXT All PRO MD for some time now. Whites is now offering a coupon for $ 100.00 off on the MXT, which is a good deal to me. I am looking at the PRO with the 9.5' Eclipse coil. For just $ 20.00 difference, I could get the MXT PRO with the back lit screen, the Ground Grab feature, and the extra tones I believe. This would be well worth it in my opinion. What is your take on it for those that are MXT users?

The biggest upgrade for me from the MXT to the MXT Pro (All Pro) was having a backlight so that I can hunt into the eve or at nights on very hot days. The ground grab is nice. As far as the tones I hardly ever use. I am mostly hunting old ghost towns and old homestead sites where iron is everywhere and the tones can get too busy. But for a lot of people they do like the tones and they are there if needed. And they also got rid of the notch feature that was on the standard MXT, which never really worked or needed. The modern pry off tabs today ring in right at the nickel range and won't be notched out anyways.

But yes if I was getting a MXT today it would be the MXT Pro or All Pro ( same machine, they just added a "All" sticker to the side of the machine) I think the few extra bucks are worth the upgrades.) I think too that the original MXT is being fazed out. Don't think you will see it around much longer. Now if they would just do a M6 Pro and give it a backlight................

when you are tone deaf, tones really don't matter that much. two is enough, 7 plenty and more than that a moot point with my ears. i love my E- series tracker MXT. i am putting a small LED light with Velcro above the meter to see if that works, but i try not to use the screen much. the last 22 kt ring rang up foil. repeatable sound ... a solid hit ...so dug it. that's the key--solid sound! the meter to me is just a coin ID for clad or silver.. not gold. however an odd signal always gets dug!

hey Gregg that 4x6 is paying off in my trash areas! love that coil! love that coil! thanks again!
