MXT vs minelab X-70

I have the X-70 and just won a new MXT. I don't want to test them against each other because once I turn on the MXT and bring it in the back yard it becomes a "used" MXT.
I am a coin shooter, not a prospector or relic hunter. The X-70 can handle all tasks with no problems, it's just not as deep as it's big brothers.

You don't want to prospect, you don't want to relic hunt, and the X70 can handle all your tasks. The MXT is also not as deep as it's big brother the Vision (V3). Rob

This is like asking, which is better, a Ford or Chevrolet. I have owned the X-Terra 70 and now own the MXT. Depth of detection is about the same on both. The X-Terra 70 has now been replaced by the X-Terra 705 which may be just a tab deeper than the X-Terra 70, but verdict is still out. While I prefer the MXT, you can not go wrong with either metal detector. The MXT is easier to learn to use, but the X-Terra 70 has more options in setting it up and it has "notch." I would suggest that you visit the X-Terra Forum and study what has been posted by Digger and others...on the same token, it would benefit you to study the helpful information posted on this forum.

At this time, I prefer the MXT due to it's ease of operation, excellent depth of detection, and it is just a solid, dependable workhorse that gets the job done. Kelley (Texas) :)

I am considering one of these also, more interested in prospecting/jewelry....advantage mxt due to gmt circuitry???

If you are interested in any kind of coil selection, the MXT wins by a landslide.

I bought an XT-70 as a backup for my MXT. I sold it and do not miss it one bit. HH Dennis in Idaho

I have a MXT to back up my MXT, bought one with no coils at a pawn shop for $100.00 had some scratches but works like a charm.......:thumbup:

Smart buy Bob.:yo:

WOW! Boy you got a heck of a deal. Nice backup... HH to all, Nancy

I thought so, seen it there it did not have a coil or the cup strap and the padding was gone from the arm rest, so I went home got a coil and batteries ran back up there tyred it out BINGO it worked great........:thumbup:....So all I need now is to order some new foam pads from..:whites:.. and I am good to go, I don't need the cup straps because I don't use them anyway. I can't pass a pawn shop with out stopping I am addicted.....:shrug:

Sorry guys I did not mean to get off the subject {MXT vs Minelab X-70}

PM me with your address again Bob and I'll get the foam pads right off to you. I have extras.

Well I have never used the X-70 prospecting, but I can honestly tell you that the MXT is a great prospecting machine. It is designed off the famous GMT that I have also used the only difference in the two machines is when the MXT is in prospecting mode the frequency of the MXT operates at 14 kHz and the GMT operates at 48 kHz. All that means is the GMT will find small/tiny gold at deeper depth. but in my experience you don't need all that depth, gold will find its way to bed rock, and in most gold bearing areas the bed rock is shallow....MXT + 6 X 10 DD = GMT...............:whites:.........:thumbup:........:usaflag:
