MXT vs M6

Not long ago I got the idea to buy a metal detector. After much research I decided on the Whites company.I am torn between the MXT and the M6. Being that I live in Alabama I don't think that gold prospecting will be in my future. Will the added software features of the MXT be enough of a benefit compared to the simplicity of the turn on and go that you get with the M6. I plan on searching for the coins and jewelry as well as civil war artifacts. By reading all the posts that are on the sight I can see that there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the MXT and my brother has the M6...they are both great machines. I like the relic mode of the MXT (which sounds like it would be useful to you and your hunting) yet the tone id of the M6 is nice. Yet remember the relic mode tone id of the MXT is similar to the M6 tone id. I've never used the prospecting mode on my MXT. The MXT is also a turn and go system, it doesn't have all the tweeking that the DFX has. So if your going to be looking for relics and civil war items go with the MXT.

Hi, i just up-graded today from a one month old minelab x-30 to a new mxt, "wow" what a machine. i have a whole bunch of new learning to do with my "mxt", but i know i will love every second of the learning process.
"good hunting" *Patrick*

I love my M6 and use it for coins and relic hunting. No it doesnt have relic mode but you just dig everything but iron. so far I have found on 2 trips 1 3 ringer, 1 pistol ball, part of spencer cartridge, buckle for haversack, and 1 grapeshot.
Good luck cant go wrong either way. M6 has been great with coinshooting as well
