MXT vs DXF

I know this is the MXT board but, since the DXF also has 15khz frequency like the MXT I was wondering how the DXF might compare to the MXT for finding gold especially nuggets. The DXF seems to have a lot more features and highly tuneable. Does any of those features give it any advantage over the MXT for gold?

I seem to be seeing more used DXF machines around me for sale then the MXT that's why I'm asking. Please keep in mind my primary goals are finding gold, but I like the option of coins and relics too with one machine.

That should have answered your question.

When someone has the MXT and realize how versatile it is, they won't sell it. The MXT is a gold nugget machine for sure. HH, Nancy

Although both machines are using 15 KHz, how the detectors operate, are very different. A distinct advantage goes to the MXT for very small gold targets like nuggets. On the larger gold, like rings and other jewelry, the DFX will hold it's own. For a good example, go to the MXT videos on the White's forum. I think he goes into great detail how the MXT was designed and operates.

Many of the DFX users have, or are moving up to the V3 technology. The DFX is still as good as it has always been.

Just wondering is the coil the only difference in the MXT and the MXT 300?
and do you recommend buying the coil that comes with the mxt ? I use a dd coil on mine

The other difference on the MXT 300 is the powder coat paint on the box. Many users don't have much use for the 12" conical coil. It works best in low trash, low to medium mineralized ground. Many users prefer the DD coils or the stock coil for coin hunting, and in trashy ground, a smaller coil yet would get best results.

I selected the MXT for it's versatility in the prospecting mode. This mode was patterned after the GMT, which is one of White's best prospecting MDs.

Do a search in here or the Whites forum for "DFX". I posted a few comparisons of it to various machines. Short answer is I wouldn't trade an M6 or MXT for a DFX somebody wanted to give me.
