I got a chance to test the MXT versus the M6 at the goldfield this place we hunt in N. CA. First off I use the MXT in Relic mode trigger center gain 3+ cranked 9.5 coil and its nice and quiet very rarely dig iron always lead or gold. I have tried the other modes and it is to noisy, you see when using the MXT in relic mode trigger center when ever the machine makes a false noise, or hot rock, or iron, or iron turkey shot its always a grunt noise, always. But lead or gold is that nice sharp sound so you can fly and cover ground quick thats the key in N. CA and OR Gold areas the more ground you cover increases your chance of finding gold and not wasting your time having to slow down at every noise. Because in the other modes a false chirp is the same tone as the good targets just not solid. This one guy was alot more impressed with the GMT over the MXT in Relic mode in the shop. So he took it out there and he was digging phantom holes never seen such a thing hehe, and he knows how to detect, he couldnt believe how noisy it was, so it was not long it went back in the truck. Anyhow on the field the M6 was having the same difficulty but still was usable for gold hunting just had to go alot slower, but it would still hit the small ones 22 size lead bullets just as good. So the M6 was doable for gold huntng, but with the MXT in Relic mode trigger center I would take that any day over the M6. Here is a post about some recent gold found where we did the test. The real big nugget is down toward the bottom of page.
