MXT trick

Here's a little trick I've learned that many of you may have figured out already, but maybe not. When coinshooting using the 6X10 DD coil, I've found that nearly all of the iffy, bouncing ids will settle down and id correctly if you pull the trigger, pinpoint as precisely as you can, then let go of the trigger and barely move the coil over the pinpointed spot. The id becomes much more reliable when under the hottest part of the coil. I haven't tried this with any of the other coils yet, but I'm thinking it will probably work with them as well.

I have used this method relic hunting with the 6x10, works great. You just have to do the dance around the target when it bounces from low to high tone. Most of the time it is at the 7-8 inch level that I find most deep bullets & buttons. The 6x10 is just as deep as the stock 950 in my soil. Seems like the MXT with the 6x10 or 950 stops at the 8" level, then it's time to switch to the 12" coil for more depth. It also depends on the matrix of dirt and rocks that I have plenty of here in the Ozarks!!!!!:whites:
