MXT Silver

Got my first silver with my new to me MXT yesterday. I got a new permission on a vacant lot behind a church here in town. My wife told me that there was a house on the lot at one time but I do not remember it. I decided to use the MXT with the 10X12 SEF coil so I could cover more ground on the large lot. I was really impressed with the coil and the detector. I dug a bunch of clad, 2 wheat pennys, ang a 1956 D Rosie before the day was up. It was a nice hunt and I decided that when I use the 10X12, the MXT will be my go to detector. It is actually deeper than the DFX in my testing, not by much but a little bit. I took it to the test garden where there is a 10" dime and a 12" quarter buried and it gave a good tone and ID on both targets at the gain preset mark. Here are the photos from yesterday's hunt.

That's awesome! Congrats on your first silver or first with mxt silver. When you compared the mxt to dfx did you use the same coil on both detectors? Makes me want to try out the 10X12 SEF sometime. I don't rely so much on VDI accuracy because even good targets can give bad VDIs in certain areas. If you have an edge over the previous detectorists you can dig older, deeper targets. An inch can make a big difference. What I like to do is clean an area as well as I can with a reliable, midsize coil and then go back over it with a larger coil when the shallow targets are gone. If you begin with the larger coil you can have difficulty with too many shallow targets under the coil at once and those deeper signals are wishful thinking while your ears are ringing.

How is the PPing on that coil?

BIG congratulations on your finds. You're going to love that MXT. It's a great detector and the more you use it, the more you're going to love it. HH, Nancy

Yes, I used the same coil on the MXT and the DFX. I love all the features on the DFX , especially the tone ID (especially on the DX-1), Backlight, dual frequency, and adjustability to different hunting situations. I think if I had the MXT Pro, I would be happy but I will probably just keep the DFX and use both machines. I did some more adjustments on the DFX last night and put a program in off "Digging Deeper" and it airtests deeper now so I am hoping to get another inch or so.

Great job on the silver and the nice finds in general! Can't wait to get out and hunt here. So keep up the good work and thank you for taking the time to share your finds with all of here!
