MXT silent threshold?

gregp

New member
I have been using another detector with a silent threshold. Has anyone or does anyone run there MXT with the thresholds silent? I understand it serves a purpose for the real deep stuff, but what if I'm only at new parks and such with clad and jewelry? I find i like the quiet sometimes.

No problem running silent. If you like it that way, then do it. If you're not hunting for the very deepest targets then running with the threshold turned down won't hurt you a bit.

Thanks Tom, Thats what I thought. The deepest targets I have found are about 6'' give or take an inch. Not deep for an MXT.

I run it silent when I need to be aware of my surroundings, safety first

I've always like the threshold hum when covering areas that are target poor as it lets me know the machine is operating. That said, it's my understanding that setting the threshold to silent may cost a little depth, but as mentioned, probably not a problem with the hunting you mention.
