Hey you all! I found this Beautifull North Carolina Solid cast sunburst Button yesterday with my MXT in A "hunted out" campsite that has some Evidence of winter hutsites, there are Several "Dug out spots" throughout the Field, & according to the Locals it was used for A period of 4 months During the winter or longer! But we went back today & found only A Few small pistol ball's. I didint find much Yesterday But I did Find this Great Button anyway, Any Suggestions on how to hunt those "Dug out spots"
And would also appreciate info on the Button too!
Thanks hh! <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

David,
I'm not into Relic hunting but if you search Google you will find several very nice sites on Civil War relics that even buy and sell your finds. One that I recall showed hundreds of buttons with prices, etc.

you match the right coil for the site, keep the gain as high as possible w/o "problems" and the Discriminate level as low as you can tolerate. Then simply apply the fool-proof <STRONG><EM>"Beep-<BIG>DIG!</BIG>"</EM></STRONG> approach to successful metal detecting and let your eyes do the "discriminating" once you have the target in your hand!
Best of success on your next foray afield!
