MXT SAT

I have just bough a MXT and notice the threshold is smoother in Relic with the trigger in the normal postion than when in the alternate position, in the alternate position the threshold is rattier. I believe this is to do with the internal fixed SAT Speed. Why is there two different SAT Speeds for the Relic mode?

My opinion is that perhaps White's was trying to anticipate the usage of the Relic Alternate mode. This mode which quiets all recognized targets at the Dual Control Discrimination setting and below, is a great mode to use when gold prospecting and relic hunting in mineralized areas. In mineralized areas you want the SAT setting to be higher. Thus the SAT setting in the Relic Alternate mode is the same setting as the Dual Control Prospecting mode SAT Initial Setting Triangle. The SAT setting for Relic Primary mode is very low, and thus quieter in normal operation.
