MXT Questions

wrong way ron

New member
Is the MXT good for deep silver coins? I found my first Merc Dime 1919 S about 6 to 7 inches down, But could I be missing other coin because of MXT fixed frequency? Should I be running in a lower frequency hunting for those deep silver coins. Or should I buy a newer machine like the Spectra V3 I'm also thinking about the Minelab Etrac

?????????
You got me on that one.
The MXT is good for silver gold and especially pull tabs( as most machines)
But I have an Ace 250 as well; it operates at about 7kHz.
I've gone back over previously detected areas with my MXT and found all the
coins I missed with the Ace and believe me there have been lots of them,
so I don't know that your missing anything with your machine. The 14.75kHz
is I think the happy medium for detecting coins AND gold. In my opinion, that is.

The only way you might be missing coins is if you missed them in the first place because
of the way your swinging your coil. If your not overlaping of course coins are going to
fall through the cracks. The other way is if your machine isn't ground balanced properly
and the mineralization is masking coins.

I think the swing speed may have something to do with it to. If your swing it like your going to a fire
then I guess your missing alot.

I could be wrong. There may be other reasons, and I'm sure Uncle Willy and the others
can set you straight.

Enjoy your machine. Whites makes the best.

No, I don't think you'll be missing much (if any) silver with the MXT. I think I've done pretty darn good with my MXT verses Larry's V-3. The main thing when detecting is that your coil has to go over the target and that's the key. Some day he does much better than me and sometimes I kick butt.:rofl: It's location location location. Just last Friday I plucked two silver dimes out of the ground. One was an inch deep and the other maybe 1 1/2 inches. Then there's others that's 5" -8" down. After that, I won't dig anymore. :surrender: Katz has some good pointers about overlapping your swings and not swinging so fast you miss hearing targets. Good luck with your MXT and congrats on your Merc. dime. HH to all, Nancy

worry not about what your missing, spend time working on what your finding... :detecting:
other wise you will get caught up in the buy all the detectors looking for the best game
learn the 1 your useing & you will excel :super:
good hunting

The MXT is a deep detector. It also is very forgiving on sweep speed. Swing slower, overlap, try different coils, (10" DD), use little discrimination, and more gain. Run it as hot as you can as long as you stay stable. Try relic mode if you are not using it. My MXT has paid for itself. Rob

Sentinel, That's a very VERY nice find. My heart is going pitta-patter. I bet yours did when you found that Reale. VERY IMPRESSIVE. Thanks for the pictures! I love them and I'm sure the others on here do too. :clapping: HH to all, Nancy
