MXT question

What is the highest gain setting has anyone able to get? Thanks.

For my stock 950 around 10 it goes to falsing, with my shooter 4x6 dd I can crank it to +2 or even +3 and could do fairly well with it but over all I feel my mxt is at it's best with the gain around 7 or 8 and just crank it up to help if I find a faint target to try and identify.
I actually think cranking it up to high is worse than running a low gain because with all the false signals I think it could cause you to miss a good target with all the chatter.
Some thinks just because they don't run the gain wide open they'll miss some old deep targets but they got a lot to learn about the mxt it's got plenty of power and don't have to be wide open to find the deep ones I first thought the same thing but since I started turning the gain down a bit rather then up I am finding a lot more good targets but hey to each their own but that's what works the best for me.

I live in the Midwest and the ground here is mild. With my Pro and a 6x10 in relic mode I can hunt 3+ with no problems

Thanks guys... the soil here is pretty good. I've got the MXT coming and just wanted to find what general settings were used for the best depth.

In the super mineralised grounds of the Australian goldfields I used to hunt in prospecting mode with SAT speed up to maximum and the gain between +3 down to +1. It was a good combination for tiny targets.
