I AM PLANNING TO GO BEACH HUNTING VERY SOON FOR COINS.IF YOU ARE HUNTING IN DRY SAND OR WET SAND DO YOU HUNT IN THE SALT MODE ?WOULD YOU USE THE 6X10 D.D. COIL AND GIVE UP THE DEPTH OR HUNT WITH THE STOCK 9.5 COIL WHICH IS DEEPER?THANKS

:pulltab:BILL

Fresh water beach here lake Erie.Very hi in minerals and droppings from ore boats that cover the beach and read dimes and quarter.Stock coil here doesn't work so well.My best coil for beach is 6'' ex coil only get about 4 to 5 inches on coins.I use relic and prospecting mode.Hope this helped a little.

It depends on the beach, salt or fresh. I hunted beaches in Texas and never needed the salt mode in the dry sand. I really didn't need it in the wet most of the time. The DD coils usually work better if the sand has minerals. Try both and you might find only the 6x10 will work. Guys are doing great with BHID and the 12" concentric. I can't wait to try my 10" DD instead of the 6x10 I used last winter. Rob

I never had any problem in fresh or salt water. Never did put it in "salt" mode where we were. Play around with it and see. It depends a lot on the mineralization. Wish you the best of luck and enjoy......HH to all, Nancy

In San Diego you don't need to use the salt setting in the dry sand, I have tried both the salt and ground mode in the wet sand and I really can't tell the difference ( but Ithere maybe I just don't know). i definately like the 6x10. I have found numerous wedding bands and other silver and gold rings on the beach (all in dry sand) .

I also hunt in San Diego a couple times a year and use the 6 X 10 and the salt mode helps me in the wet sand and water line. I like hunting around the Mission Bay area and the beaches up around Carlsbad.
