Hello, Im getting ready to purchase a whites mxt "maybe", but before I drop all the bucks I have a few questions that I need answered. I currently have a bounty hunter pioneer202 from walmart and would the mxt outperform this detector in depth? what is the deepest coins that any of you have found? Is the mxt reliable and do you think it will disc. any better? Also Im going to be doing some prospecting from time to time and I have with my bounty hunter but found no gold, do you think I would have a better chance with the mxt? Any of you mxt prospectors out there can you tell me the smallest gold you've found with it and depth? I know this is alot of questions but it's also alot of money!

I dont think there is many people here that have owned a 202---I know My grandson used to use about the same one --I got it at Wallmart---If any 1 thinks I am going to rank them --I am not---But they wont find a Quarter at 11 inches I have found one that deep--The average depth for me would be UP to 9 In.----Yes ALL Whites are reliable but as with any thing you buy there will be some with problems---Whites has some of the best service people you will ever run into and you never wait weeks for repair--3to12 days going both ways is average--I have sent mine on Mon Received it back on Wed if its a average repair--As far as Nugget Hunting I would say the MXT is better than the Bounty Hunter--By percentage I would Guess around 3000% or more--I have not got to hunt gold myself But I beleive what I have read about the MXT and Nuggets-----Spend SOME TIME and just look for the posts that talk about what you asked about---- Read back the last 3 Mo. or so and a lot of your questions will be answered--You will also get to know the people on this fomum by doing that---------The MXT is all I use---I use it because I like it----DeathWind1

3000% is pretty dang good.Ive been reviewing this forum and the more I read the more Im being sold on the mxt.I was at first looking at the dfx or the quattro but I feel for now that I don't want to spend all that time on the learning curve to be comfy using it. Thanks for your opinion and info.

I remember when I got mine a little over 2 years ago, the local dealer let me pay it off in 3 months. I could not have afforded it otherwise, and I'm VERY glad it happened.
My MXT has been dependable, as I have had zero problems with the machine. The operator, on the other hand...
Seriously, when you take the plunge and get one, budget for at least one coil. If not, the stocker will frustrate you in the trash.
If the new price is too scary, there are some good bargains in the classifieds. I got 2 coils and a set of E-9000 headphones there, and all items are good as new to me. If your'e not in a hurry to get one, perhaps you can wait for a package deal to come along. I would not be afraid to buy a used MXT here, as long as the seller is well known.
Just my thoughts. I'm no expert, but I never let that stop me from having an opinion!!!

Can't say about the BH, but can't beat the MXT. Super depth, great on gold. May be a little frustrating at first to use, but once you learn it, look out.

Allright ,I admit it. I own bought the 202 BH and the MXT...the 202 is ok in average ground...BUT,here is what I would do if money is tight...DON"T waste any gas money searching for gold with the bounty hunter 202...sell the 202 on the classifieds or maybe trade it for a small coil for the MXT and add the money from the gas you save on your gold hunting trip to make your purchase for the MXT...it's like 10 horsepower vs. 400 horsepower and that is a BIGGGG difference....

I like your comparison, I got my bh for xmas from my mom last year and at thirty seven years young It's turned out to be one of the bests gifts Ive ever recieved,Im hooked on detecting.Im sure Im going to buy the mxt but I just wanted some more reasurance from some mxt users,I know the bh is not the best detector but it does work better than I thought, If it was telling me there was a quarter in the ground it usually was a quarter. Anyway, Im curious what I find when I use the mxt in the same spots ive used my bh202.

Seeker, my tests of the MXT, here in the Mojave Desert gold fields, reveals that the MXT, with the 950 coil, can find gold flakes as small as 1/4 grain. That is about half the size of an average sesame seed. The MXT is the 2nd best VLF gold prospecting detector on the market today. As for coin hunting, my tests also reveal that the MXT can find dimes as deep as 9" in my soil; others with more "kinder" soil report finding dimes to 10". Hope this helps; HH jim
