MXT PRO TONE ID ?

SWMO Mark

New member
I was wondering how many people use the tone id on the MXT PRO ? I have used an Explorer and Etrac in the past. Was just wondering if the tones on the MXT were as good or better than the Minelabs. Got tired of Minelabs service. So I am thimking about a PRO if the tones are good. Thanks, Mark

Well Mark i ditched my Safari for the MXT PRO. All i have used is Minelab until now. I think the tone ID on the Mxt Pro is just as good as minelab. I use the relic mode 2 tone mostly now though. You can use relic mode with multi tones though. I think you will like it. I do. No regrets leaving Minelab. HH

[size=large]i still swing both my mxt pro and the ex se pro. ya just gotta learn the tones are differant. i'm moody. some days i don't want flutes and some days i don't want whites noise. i do find there is no doubt when whites hit a silver or a coin. with the ml i still am quessing what i am hearing. if i make a real solid hit with the ml it sounds great. iffy signals are still a problem. i don't have near as many iffy signals with the whites.anyway i for one go with the tones. still need a lot more practice though.

SWMO....I only own the MXT and have been thinking about the Minelabs ETrac unit. I can tell you when you get into the "quality" signals where you want to dig say a penny, dime or quarter you get a very high pitch that is to me atleast undeniable as to whether to dig or not. Yes. I still get fooled by the high pitch and dig a piece of aluminum or other "quality" metal as a signal, but I don't mind digging those because those signals end up being a coin many times. Now to the nickel. If you want to dig nickels you will dig a lot more junk, as the pulltabs/screwcaps are very close in their signal. It is the silver that has me baffled with the MXT Pro...as you can see by my Digging silver"HELP" post. I've heard that you get a +90 signal and you better be digging it...well for me atleast..... those +90's are always a nail or some other "rusty" metal. Anyone else get this....or have any specific #'s for their silvers when you've encountered them?

Silver signals coins usually mid 80 's

Thanks Joel, Will definitely keep that in mind.
Do you all find the same thing...90's is typically junk/rusty metal?? For me +93, +94 is typically a rusty nail, bolt , nut...etc.
Widebody you wrote: "i do find there is no doubt when whites hit a silver or a coin." I find a "QUARTER" is about a strong a tone as I've heard. Does the "SILVER QUARTER" have a different "tone" than the regular QUARTER?...or do you just mean that the tone for a "quality" coin item is undeniable. Just wondering. Thx.

Those high 90s are like yours usually iron based junk.
Some times those numbers also could be a few coins together as a spill.

Wow, nice to see I am not the only silver less MXT owner. I to with the high numbers have only dug quarters but I will keep working at it. I have been also thinking of another machine and was wondering if you picked up the Etrac and if so how do you like it.?

I love the MXT PRO and yes I do find silver with it. If you are not finding silver it is not the machine. Your coil just has not got over them yet.

I have the MXT Pro and really like it. I also have a Fisher 1266X and the new Garrett AT Pro, but the MXT is still my primary unit. My biggest complaint is the mid to high 90 that ends up being a nail or other iron junk. That is a problem.
