MXT Pro goes deep

Bedrock

New member
Just got back from visiting my daughter in Illinois. Of course I took the MXT Pro, which I have only had for a couple of months. The ground VDI was 53 in the school yard I was detecting. This is a much friendlier reading than here in northern California where it is rarely under 75. I could not believe the difference in the way the detector performed. I was digging wheaties at 8-10 inches, but unfortunately, no silver. These coins were way past the hilt on my Lesche. It was almost like a clinic for me, and I really learned how good the MXT Pro can be. I was really able to hear the faint whispers in that soil, and on most of these deep coins I was even getting a fairly consitant VDI number. I was in C&J with the sensitivity at max. I really like the MXT Pro, and lately the V3i and the DFX have stayed home when I go out.

I know what you're talkin' about, Bedrock. I live in Northern CA too and the soil sure makes things difficult. Sooooo many HOTROCK readings. I can't wait to get out of state to try some places with better soil. HH!

What? You came to Illinois and you didn't stop by? Boy oh boy, now I'm hurt. Where in IL were you at? Congrats on your wheat cents. Sweet and deep! HH, Nancy

Nancy: We were about an hour NE of St. Louis. I apologize for not stopping by. Next time I will do better, promise. I need to get back there, I have a lot more area to cover. So much lawn. So little time.

On those really deep coins, I was only getting a 1/4 bar most of the time, but the VDI number was staying pretty consistantly around the 70's. They weren't bouncing all over the place. I was getting the same response from different sweep directions. These responses, along with the faint tone I.D.that I would get intermittantly, just seemed too promising to ignore. I would dig a 6 inch hole, check with the Pro pointer...nothing. Dig out a couple more inches...nothing. Dig again, and then the Pro Pointer would sound off. These were just wheaties, no big deal I know, but it was really fun finding coins that deep. I doesn't happen often were I live.

Well, that's good news. It's good that the yard will be waiting for you too. What a bonus seeing your daughter and being able to detect. Life is good. HH, Nancy

Good to know and interesting that the V3i and DFX are now collecting dust! I just sold my Etrac and will be using my MXT as a primary now

I was using the 6 x 10 DD. I should have put that in my original post, and I apologize for not doing that.

Those are some very impressive numbers, especially for that coil. I'm in Northern Ca. also and 6-7" is about the deepest I think I've found coins at with my 6x10 . . .I need to start traveling. Nice work. . . !

When I got my pro about 5 months ago I liked it but now its my number 1 detector. My v3I is in the hands of a new owner. The MXT is simple and will deliver in any dirt Ive hunted. Wouldnt go back to the V3I .

Thanks for posting this! I'm thinking 'bout picking up an MXT pro & posts like this build my confidence in this machine which I believe is the most important thing anyway!! :pulltab:
