MXT PRO for my next detector?

I'm thinking of purchasing a whites mxt pro. I used to run a dfx but I hated how it reacted around EMI. Supposedly the mxt is much better, but I'd like to know before I purchase one. I really like some of the features that whites machines have. The pinpoint trigger is excellent as well as the VCO and VDI #'s. I really miss the ability to judge depth by sound like the dfx does. The dfx gave a clear, crisp buzz (while pinpointing) that told me precisely how far down a coin size target was.I also liked the depth gauge much better than my current machine. My xterra 705 is a terrific machine, but I find myself wishing it had those several items. I think the mxt pro would be a much more turn on and go machine than the dfx and would produce as well if not better. I also wonder how fast the mxt recovers from one item to the next. My 705 really shines in this area, and I know my dfx wasn't half as fast in those trashy areas, so I was also hoping for a better recovery time on the mxt as well. Any info. is appreciated. Thanks!

[size=medium]seems you're looking for the perfect machine and it won't be there. i loved my mxt pro and regret selling it. you won't find a faster recovery. as for telling how far down a target is by sound. it's not your DFX. if the target is really down it may come up as a faint sound. the mxt doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other whites machines.the MXT is very simple to use. but it does sound off on targets. it doesn't have the vco of the DFX either. it does accept a good selection of small and large coils. but all must be 15kHz. unlike your 705. i will say once you really get into using the MXT you get used to the sounds and before you know it you're hearing targets that are faint and deep at least 10" -12" with the D2 coil. it does have it's pros and cons like ALL machines will.if i could afford it i'd get mine back. i have the baby DFX in the XLT and my ml exp.se pro. the MXT was my go to machine though. now it's either my XLT or my AT PRO. i was able to invite a fellow from a near-by city to come up and demo his newly bought MXT PRO and he let me use it for a short while so i had a chance to see what it did before i bought mine. see if you can do the same. throw the invite out there. maybe visit a club. i haven't found anyone yet who doen't want to show someone their machine.

I guess I may have mixed up VCO with MODULATION. From what I understand, the modulation allows the user to judge the depth of a target by sound while swinging the detector, and VCO is an aid mostly for pinpointing. Either way, from the videos I've been watching, and from what widebody said, the sound difference for deeper targets is easily distinguishable by a faint sound in pinpoint mode. I'm guessing the bell tones ring out at the same volume (no matter what the depth of the object) while in coin search mode. Would you say that the MXT PRO handles EMI well?(Power lines and such), or does it disappoint you when hunting on private properties with OH power lines? I had to turn the DFX sens. down to nil at some sites in town no matter which freq. I was using. My 705 and ace 250 both walked dog on it in those situations.

[size=medium]glad to hear your enjoying the Pro KMT. i for one didn't have any dbad run-ins with interference and at times was close enough to high tension wires where i expected some. don't be shy with the Gain. crank that puppy up to +1or +2 and just barely set the threshold and with a very good set of headphones you'll be picking up those deep faint high tone. what is good with the MXT Pro is the ability to switch from relic to coin and back. i would run in relic and check the high tones then flip to coin to verify the vdi. ya gotta watch the switch. i was constantly switching from coin to relic with-out realizing it and misread the icons. took a while to catch on. but i'm not that hard to confuse.
