MXT Pro and silver

OregonGregg

Well-known member
Joined Monte out in a Eastern Oregon ghost town and found this 1900S Barber Quarter. It is by far the nicest dug coin that I have found. Was using the MXT PRO w/ Eclipse 5.3 coil. Disc was set to just knock out a nail and gain at 9. Found the coin in very dry dirt. It had a lite crust. I used my shirt tail to wipe it off and that is how the coin looked in the pics. Curious if any coin enthusiast are out there what do you think it might grade. Anyhow was exciting find and good ol' MXT Pro sniffed it out of that old iron infested ghost town.
thanks for looking.

It almost looks fake ! That MXT Pro is an awesome machine. Still got the one you sold me. Hope you hit that spot again and find other silver coins just like it.

Congratulations on such a beautiful coin and with full "LIBERTY" also. I think the Barber quarters have such a beautiful design on the back. Thanks for sharing and HH, Nancy

Thanks Nancy and Therover. The Barber is a neat coin for sure. As far as looking fake, I didn't clean the blackish patena off that developed on the coin from being in the ground. I left it like it was, thought it looked neat that way. And when I took the pic, it was on the dash of my jeep and the sun was just coming in and was lighting it from the side. Between the blackish patena and sun lit from the side, made the details really pop out.
Anyhow, I see a few post now and then that state the MXT is getting long in the tooth. It was a great machine when it came out, is a great machine today and will be great 20 yrs from now. The M6 ( little brother of the MXT) and the MXT Pro are the two machines I use 90+ % of the time for the places I like to hunt.

Congrats.... That's a beauty............:detecting:

I agree about the MXT. Just took my MXT Pro out the other day and thought to myself what a simple yet powerful, fun unit to hunt with.

I do love my MXT and it's a great machine and always has been. I do have to confess that I am getting an E-trac this week. ;) HH, Nancy

Nancy when you get the E-Trac be sure to give us an update. How it does and how you like it. Do you remember back in grade school ( or maybe your to young) in about 3rd or 4th grade they forced us to play the recorder, a flute like instrument lol everytime I hear a minelab, it takes me back to those days  I guess I'm just a good ol' whites single tone type of guy.
I hope your still keeping your MXT. And we still see you in this forum. I would hate for you to crossover to the darkside aka minelab forum

I couldn't agree more. I have my MX5 and modified IDX Pro along with me also, but you clearly stated why the MXT All-Pro is always with me as my #1 all-purpose, versatile detector. 'Simple' and I like simple rather than complex with a lot of unnecessary adjustments. The MXT All-Pro (MXT Pro) is so easy to set up and keep in operation, and the results afield have pleased me since I owned my first one.

to the MXT Forum, or give up on your MXT (unless it is to 'upgrade' to a new MXT All-Pro (same as MXT Pro) ).

Sorry to hear you're going the FBS route, even though I can kind of understand it for some urban coin hunting in more open areas, but ....

I've had several Explorer II's and an SE Pro, and the E-Trac and even the GTX-3030 are just revised extensions of the FBS group and, in my opinion, are still essentially 'Explorer' revisions.

I know what they can do, in some applications, but since I mainly hunt older sites rather than urban coin shooting spots and parks, I prefer a much better balanced detector, with quick-response, and a great ability to work well in dense iron trash. The heavy and awkward FBS models don't, and they are too fatiguing as well, for my aching and falling apart body.

The MXT All-Pro, and two or three accompanying detectors I carry, handle things quite well, especially hunting the out-of-the-way places where I have tried several Explorer models. The FBS units didn't handle things well. For your choices of sites, I do hope it works for you. Best of success, but keep a good White's close by.

Awesome find. Love that MXT !!!!!!!

Thanks Monte, I will never get rid of my MXT. I love that machine.

As FBS route, we couldn't pass the buy up and I've wanted to try one for some time. We also hunt those hard to get too far away lonely old private areas and I wanted to give it a try. We'll see what happens. Yes, it's quite heavier and not anything close to the balance of the MXT.

I won't be a stranger. I've got too many wonderful friends on here.

HH,
Nancy
