MXT PRO 12" COIL

I've made up my mind. It's going to be the mxt pro. But what to do about the 12" coil. Im going to be doing alot of learning, schools, parks, lots, anywhere I can mdt. I just havent heard much if anything good about this coil.

The 12'' is an excellent coil per application, with that said the learning curve in my case was hard because I was hunting demolition sites with the ground covered per sweep not as important as the separation of targets.(solved that problem with the 5.3)
When I purchased the MXTPRO I opted for the D2 10'' coil and am well pleased. In making a suggestion I say D2! learning curve even a fastball-er can enjoy :pulltab:just dig it

Congrats on the decision on the MXT PRO.
I would see if you could get it with the 950 or a 6X10 in exchange for the 12"
Good luck
HH

The 12" coil is very good if you hunt in a low trash area. For general hunting I might suggest the 950 or D2 and most dealers will work with you on a coil swap at the time of purchase........ if you have the dough I would get the 5.3 at the same time.

I got mine with the 12" and bought the 5.3 at the same time and use both coils for different applications. If you try to use the 12" coil in trashy areas, you will get discouraged! Save yourself the headache and get a smaller coil.

That really surprises me, when I was a dealer, I could order them from the distributor with the 950...... Maybe things have changed.

I bought my Pro just a couple of months ago out of treasure electronics Tulsa,OK. had no problems in purchase with the D2 instead of 12''.Sorry to hear your not getting the same service.I even asked about the 100.00 difference if I went with the 9.5 was told if that's what I wanted that's what they would sale me.Come to think of it I have spent afew grand there:nerd:

Randy is a good guy, a regional Distributor for White's. He might not be able to sell to you unless you are in his district but he might help you with a dealer in your area.

Larry is exactly right on. 12" is a great coil if you are in a low trash environment. Good for beach too. 950 coil is a great "all around" choice. Cant go wrong. JMHO. CCH

The 12" coil is awesome, but not for trashy areas. If financially possible keep the 12" coil and buy a 6x9 Eclipse or 5.3 coil for normal or trashy areas. If you can't then I would recommend the D2 coil, sort of middle of the road.

In my case, I kept my 12", but just ordered a 9x6 too as the 12" didn't separate trash well. I also found a used 950 on eBay. Sometimes you can get them as low as $20. I still plan on getting the 5.3, as I've heard so much about it.

Just bought the MXT Pro and they wouldn't swap coils, so I bought the 5.3 and D2, extra lower rods, rubber washers and fasteners. I can't use it yet. We just got 6" snow this A.M. bummer. HH Jack

Great setup. I'm considering adding the D2 to the inventory as well.

I've tried to exchange the 12" with every co. i talked to. No one will do it

I guess it depends on what kind of dealer you're dealing with. Mine was very customer friendly and helpful, he recommend the 9.5 over the 12" that came with it. I couldn't be happier with the decision, the 9.5 is awesome, but I'm going to get a 5.3 for some of the trashier, wood areas I'm hunting. I can't imaging hunting any of these spots with a 12 " coil.

I took the 12"/300 out for it's first real test yesterday and it worked nice. The area I was in was an old school site/turned city park and some areas were clean, some had iron debris from the tearing down of the building. In the open areas though....covered ground FAST and went deep. When I went to the spots that were under power lines.....it had to come off. In trashy areas, had to hover, whip (slightly) and REALLY concentrate on the screen.

This coil is going to be perfect for old ball fields and big yards. (My main use coils are still going to be the 10" DD, 6x10 and 5.3.) The big thing I took away was how light it is for it's size and how well it will work on some places I need to get back to now!
