MXT performance question

D&P-OR

Well-known member
When useing the 6X10" DD Eclipse and 3X6" DD "Shooter" coils on the MXT---is there any difference in performance on the MXT when you are useing these two coils that are "V rated" versus useing these two coils that are NOT "V rated"?------In other words, is there any thing to be gained (better performance in any way) by useing a "V rated" coil on an MXT?-----Does it help or hurt OR make no difference (in performance)?-----------Thanks, Del

I had heard that ALL of the 6X10" DD Eclipse coils that Whites are turning out now are "V rated".----Is this correct or am I mistaken on this?--------Del

I believe White's has made the statement that the V rated coils do not improve performance on non V detectors. From what I understand, the V nulled coils optimize the 22.5 MHz channel of the V and allows the coil to handle the Boost feature of the V. (three time normal voltage) There have been reports to the contrary, but I think the improvement experienced with a V rated coil is due to the old coil may not have been up to par and a change in coils showed the improvement, not because it was V rated.

That is correct Del, not only the 6X10, but all coils for the DFX, MXT, M6, V3i except for the 1400 coil are now V rated.
