MXT Pain in the ear!

(New Owner) Does anyone else have a MXT problem with ear numbing, eye fluttering high decible pain when using the depth/pinpointing mode! It's so inconvient to turn down headphone volume for each and every target identified!

I dont think I have heard anyone with your problem---If the Pinpointing sound is too loud I would say you have very good hearing and that you have the headphones way to loud all the time--Try running volume for the pinpoint noise for searching--If the phones are good that should be loud enough---Deatheind1

Absolutely! And the manual doesn't do a good job of explaining how to set the mxt up with earphones.
One of the (flew) flaws with the mxt is that it lacks a volume control. If you set the earphone's volume control to max and then set the threshold for the lowest hum you can hear, then when you go into pinpoint mode on a healthy target, the mxt will shatter your eardrums.
Instead of doing that, set the earphone's volume to something you can stand when in pinpoint mode and then go back and adjust the threshold to hear a low hum. You won't really lose depth (with a good set of headphones) and you'll keep your eardrums intact.

Thanks Rudy & Deathwind1! I'll try both of your suggestions tomorrow and let you know how it went. I'm surprised others haven't had the same complaint. White's factory suggest limiter headphones. ($100 and up)

Thanks for the "how to" on setting the headphone volume. Not exactly what I was wanting but it does make it tolerable/workable!

When I first got the MXT I was using headphones without a volume control. I got the weirdest feedback on my hearing whenever I took off my headphones. Everything sounded real electrical. I got this hissing sound with everything that I heard. Cars birds rivers etc... Sounded sort of neat but it just cant be good for your hearing .
It was really bad when you got those lower gain prompts.
