MXT or XLT ?

Hello, i am new in this forum and i live in Italy.
My doubt is about a choose between MXT and XLT.
Naturally, in my country ther's no gold nugget to find but i am interesting about MXT cause the good post messages I've read.
My priority is coin hunter in medium and low mineralized soil. What about depth for coin between MXT and XLT?? (in Italy coins are mostly bronze, copper, poor nickel)
Thanks
Andrea

I believe the MXT to be twice as deep as the XLT for a person who is a novice.
The XLT however has so many variables in the programming, that I believe an XLT expert can be every bit as productive as a competent user of the MXT.
This is my opinion, and I have owned both. I never achieve expert level on the XLT, but I recognize the potential to do a LOT more than I was able to accomplish with it. I no longer own one.
The MXT however is far less complex, far more easily learned and mastered. If you are new to metal detecting, or do NOT want to invest a good deal of time in learing your machine then I recommend the MXT. I still have my MXT.

Andrea,
The mxt is much easier to master than an xlt.
If you are new at MD'ing, you will get more depth from an mxt. This is simply because the mxt, with its two stage filtering, is more forgiving in regards to coil sweep speed than the xlt.
The mxt is HOT on nickels and other low conductors such as gold. You might not have gold nuggets there, but surely there are some gold relics to be found.
With low to medium mineralization, the mxt should hunker down and work for you quite well.

Many thanks for your information. I think that MXT is right detector for me.
Hello
Andrea

Just got an MXT myself. Looking forward to putting it through a thorough testing just as soon as Momma Nature allows. Let us know how you do!

Hi, Andrea
I have had my MXT for less than a month and had never had a detector in my hands until I got it. Like you, I came down to the XLT and MXT. I read and asked questions for a couple months before deciding what to get. I chose the MXT primarily because I could take the MXT out of the box, read the manual, set the dials on the factory presets, and start swinging. Yet, I could begin to customize my settings as I learned more from experience and reading. This is exactly what has happened. I just think the MXT is more user friendly for a rookie and will do just as good a job for the advanced user.
I also believe the XLT is a fine detector, but requires a steeper learning curve.

The MXT is a terrific detector and very easy to use. You can hunt with it anywhere. It will go very deep on coins. I like the relic mode, zero discrimination, trigger pushed forward. Depth to about 10 inches on Quarters (us). I dig numbers over 70. I also enjoy the light weight of the detector. I have used just about every make and model. This one is a winner. Good luck, Tex
