MXT or V3?

I know that the VX3 has a ton of program adjustments but what I care about is depth. Can the V3 be setup to get greater depth than the MXT? I hate all those adjustments and love the easy setup of the MXT, but if the VX3 will go deeper then I will learn it. I had a DFX and hated it.

If you don't like the adjustments, I would stick to the MXT/MXT Pro. Both are very good machines.

There's also a $500-$600 price deference between The two Detectors, like Larry states there both great detectors.

:geek:Hello I had the DFX and like you I got headaches from trying to figure it out, not too computer savy anyway, know just enough to get me in trouble!! lol. so therefore I sold it and went with the MXT something us old foggies can figure out, needless to say haven't looked back yet!!!! Oh someone who can adjust it and set it up right, it will go deeper than the mxt. At least that's what I've been told.

I'll jump in though I'm not familiar with the V3. I've had an MXT Pro since October 2010. I also own a T2SE, a Garrett AT Pro and a Fisher 1266X. All are great machines and I'm still learning the T2. The MXT is still my primary machine. It is a real work horse - tough as nails and though a newbie can start out with it, there's plenty of growing room. My favorite coil is the White's 10" DD. I dug a Confederate Block A Coat Button with the MXT this week. If you get the MXT, get Jeff Foster's book and you can learn some more tricks for getting some more depth out of the MXT.

I have not used the VX3 yet. Overall it seems it might be an improvement over the MXT in high trash area's? I've run the MXT for a couple of years now and have not found a land machine deeper than it so far. I have every coil for it also. My favorite coil is the factory eclipse 950 coil and then it would be the 5.3 coil or the 10" Excelerator coil. My least favorites would be 1400 DD and the super 12" coils. I was going to upgrade to the DFX seeing how I all ready had these coils for it. But the local dealers here were telling me that I wouldn't get as much depth with it as I was getting with the MXT.
