mxt or dfx

New member
just picked up my mxt today, i already own a dfx, a lot of the relic hunters here in central va. swear by the mxt over the dfx. I have plenty of time to compare but just interested on anybody elses thoughts, i know it all depends on which one you like the most but the mxt seems so much more user friendly-- thanks, and good hunting

[size=large]i own the baby dfx, the xlt. the dfx of course is much more complicated with all the controls and such. the mxt is very simple. i have the
mxt pro and have had a good time with it. still like to go out with the xlt though. found the mxt pro was missing quite a few targets when compared to a competitors matching version. they were side by side comparisions so for those with the itch please save the sales pitch. if your happy with it then great. if the machine i ordered out preforms the mxt pro then the pro will be sold. the mxt preformed well. got my first silver coin and it was a ben half at 8" with the D2 coil. i don't think my xlt would have found it. don't know how well the dfx does on depth but i do know the mxt does well with the right coil at the right time. i thought the dfx was suppose to be the blending of the mxt with the xlt. i think the fact that the MXT has such a following tells how well it does over-all. that's my opinion.

In your ground the MXT will be superior because of the much better ground tracking capabilities. A DD/SEF style coil will make it even better.

I have the Mxt and it does exceptional in the ground here and Im in Central Va also. I dig it all coins, jewelery and Civil War relics. Now I've never used the dxf, so I cant compare. 2 things I wish the mxt had are more ringtones and a backlight. If I would of went with the pro my life would of went better. You have to ground balance it in a good spot though. Off topic, what part of Central Va are you from?

I sold my DFX and got the MXT PRO as I feel it is a much better relic machine. Don't get me wrong about the DFX though. I have dug hundreds of bullets and buttons with it here in Tennessee but since I started hunting DIV's I found the MXT is much better in the soil there.

I'm in Louisa county, took the mxt out this morning for the first time, 4 dropped sharps bullets, 1 eagle cuff button in excellent condition and a 1829 large cent in very good condition, all found in a couple of hours hunting in orange county Va. I am more than pleased with the mxt, my dfx will now be my back-up machine for relic hunting. Forgot to mention the handful of 22 mag. bullets and pocketful of shotgun shells. I live in Gordonsville Va. and i know a ton of relics have come out of this area, really going to put the mxt to the test. Always looking for someone to hunt with if anybody is close. HH
