MXT ? on Depth

grumpy

New member
Morning folks
I have an off the wall question for y ou folks that test your MXT and know what the thing will do and wont.
Take a standard coil and MXT machine . Bury new clad quarters at (in clean ground but dry) 4 in 6 in 8 in and 10 inch.
What will the machine do. WIll it pick up all , some or none of these quarters. ??????
Does it matter if they are a year in the ground same quarters same depth but left for a year????
Would really like to know what you know before we pull out any hair I ant got to pull out?
Thanks
Grumpy

Hi Grumpy,

I can't remember how large your quarters are but I did find a medium sized coin about 12" deep with the stock standard coil. Coins don't decompose like iron does so it wouldn't matter if it was 50 years old you would still find it. There are many different things which change the results. My coin at 12 inches was lying flat. I'm not sure i would have found it if it was on it's edge. Look back through this forum there is a mountain of info that will help you get a better idea of what ur machine will do. I mostly hunt gold with my MXT so I have some other coils. I usually use the standard coil when at the beach or hunting coins.

There are several threads already on this forum that talk in depth about this.

Hay Grumpy, The MXT is good at getting deep coins but when you dig a hole it makes the soil loose and i don,t get as good depth as packed soil. It has something to do with it because i have try to get coins i put in the ground at 4" and didn,t get a good signal, but i have found coins at 7- 8 - 9" with good signal. So I thank loose soil makes it happen. Good Luck Dean
