I'm finally going to buy the MXT, the wife gave me the OK. I've read alot of posts, but I still can't figure which coil would be the best for nugget hunting. The place I want to go has alot of "hot rocks" yet I want something that has at least 12" of depth on a half ounce nugget. Or 3" of depth on an 5 grainer, if that is all possible. Thanks, Mike

I am also having trouble making up my mind on the coil I want for nugget shooting. <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?"> I've read tho old posts over and over and STILL can't decide which one to get. All the DD coils have their pros and cons.

I never get much of a chance of nugget hunting because of my location but I have most of thecoils that you would use for that---I think I would use the new 8 in. EXcellarator coil from KELLYCO as I have found the performance to be Excellent as to tiny objects and DEPTH---You can Return it with in a certain time limit if it does not do what you need---It comes with a coil cover---I would think you could tell in a very short time at home just using LEAD of a measured Wt. to see how deep it would go on small gold----I do think it would be my coil of choice for nuggets because you can only go So big before you would loose ability to find the small nuggets----------I bet Monte could give a VERY valid Choice as to what He has used ---------DeathWind1

... that is the choice of 90% of the MXT users who nuggetshoot. The 10x6 is on my MXT about 90% of the time. Also, when buying your MXT, for maximum productivity in teh gold fields, get the highest decibel output headphones you can afford. The most popular are the lifetime warranty Koss E-Series 9000's. They feature 100 ohm impedence, 101 decibel output, and are REALLY comfortable. Hope this helps; HH jim
