I got into an area full of beaver tailed pull tabs , they would come in at 37-38 some lower and higher, Hit another 37 and started to leave it and that small voice said what if it's a big ring ? 4 inches down was the biggest class ring I ever found. At another site alot of tabs close to the 30 range. Got a solid 30 vdi, another big ladies class ring. Yet another school out in front of a set of bleachers, I had bug 479 tabs, give or take 100 most in the 20 -22 range. Got another 22 and reluctantly dug it, a small class ring. I'll be honest with you, when at schools or parks using the stock coil I would run the gain on 9 disc on 3 coin mode trigger centered ground to track and threshold just under sound and if it had a solid beep I dug it, got coins down to 8-9 inches , yeah I dug alot of trash put I did not leave much good stuff behind either, And it will tell you in the manual, the id shows the " PROBABLE " target, the only fool proof method is to dig it up. Also the mxt will average the vdi's of two targets in the same hole, got a 47 vdi one eveniong at a school dug a nickel and a quarter out of the same hole . Had that happen quite a few times. I have found it pays to listen more to the mavhine and not rely so much on the target ID, I think the mxt would be just as good if not better with out the target ID and it takes a while to sink in but I realized that it was not always correct even on a positive id it can be wrong. Also if you crank the disc all the way up you wont get much but big copper and silver. HH
