MXT & MXT 300 WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

Yes, the 9.5" or the 12" and the paint. Rob

For all intents, if you already have an MXT and add the 12" coil, you have am MXT 300. Personally I find the smaller coils more useful for the biggest share of my hunting as they work better in trashy areas.
My two bits,

Yeah I thought I was getting cheated out there or something. The price is a litte more for a MXT 300 so that seams to explain it. I'll stick to my 9.5" coil for now. It hasn't let me down yet. What kind of detector do you use?

Have several Tesoros, an MXT, and a Prizm IV. I bought a 12" coil on sale a few weeks back so I guess I now have an MXT 300. LOL
Overall, I find for most parks, playgrounds etc. that the larger coils don't handle trash that well. I really like the 4X6 on the MXT for trashy areas and the 5.3 is good also, but the 6X10 is my most used coil as it does better in trash than the 9.5 and still has decent coverage. The only downside on the MXT to me is the weight. Other than that, I think it's a great detector.

I agree 100% with BarberBill on the MXT and coil sizes, 6 X10 DD is the best combination for all round detecting. :whites::clap::clapping:

IS A DFX BETTER THAN AN MXT? DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU USE IT FOR I GUESS. :poke:

Unless your hunting a large area like a farm field or something and want to cover a large area in a short space of time,
the 12 inch is useless as tits on a bullfrog. Your better off just having the MXT with the standard coil and buying the
6x10DD coil. I can't imagine what Whites was thinking when they did the MXT 300 thing.
Maybe it was because so many people wanted more depth? Possibly.
Just one man's opinion.

I bought the MXT-300 today, I can't wait to get on Thursady. There is no difference in the MXT and the MXT-300, just the 12" Coil, and the finish. I plan on buying another MXT with the 9.5 for my son, but thought what the heck, for $90.00 more I get the bigger coil and save around $150.00 on the coil alone. I will put that savings towards the 6x10 or small DD coil for prospecting. Now that I'm getting the detector, all I have to do is figure out what I'm doing. All new to this Metal Detecting sport.
