MXT me to

Diddly

New member
Went to my local Whites dealer yesterday and bought a new MXT. It came with the 9.5 Coil and I added a Super 12 plus a DD Shooter. Gotta say I'm really impressed with the local Dealer here in Minden, Nevada. The guy spent some time with me and I think I learned alot and found out I have a lot to learn. The only place I've been with it so far is my back yard and since this is a fairly new house nothing but hot rocks.

Tomorrow I'm going to check out a really old park and maybe an area that was badly flooded a few years ago. I'am between the Sierra/Nevada and the Pinenut Mountains, there are Gold mines in both ranges, I'd like to check out some of the gullies and canyons down hill from some of the mine areas. But my first consideration at this time is getting proper permission. Really don't want to upset a bunch of local folks.

I had a email chat with the Sales Mgr at Whites in Sweet Home, Orygun regarding a small item, like how come when you step up and buy some of their Coils they don't supply the 3/8" coil hardware ( plastic nuts and bolts) it just seemed to me that as cheap as they are that they would give you a couple since they might get lost while you're out in the boondocks. They are $1.50 apiece or there bouts, so I went ahead and bought five sets of them. Beyond that I think the Whites Organization is top drawer.

Diddly:

When you get those hot rocks, just remember to lift your coil from the ground and decrease the gain. You will probably have to find a parcel of ground that is reatively free of mineralization, ground your machine and go from there. You may need to LOCK it after grounding the MXT.

There ARE other coils you can buy from KellyCo that will work on the MXT called excellerator coils but they are a bit pricy. There have been some post here about the excellerator coils as well.

You bought yourself a great machine. If you can, spend a few dollars and get Whites 5.3 coil. Great depth! You can go to KellyCos website a buy a 6 or an 8inch DD excellerator coil.

uwith your MXT.

Congrats on your new MXT Diddly. I think you will love it. This is the place when you need a question answered. Keep us posted on how things are going.

I found it very convenient to purchase lower rods for my accessory coils. They can be swapped out in a hurry when I'm anxious to hunt and I never lose the hardware.

I've been using the MXT since June. Bought it slightly used with the 4X6, 5.3, and 9.5 coils and then added the 6X10 coil. For the hunting I do the 4X6 is vastly superior in trashy areas and as a general purpose coil I really like the 6X10. The 6X10 seems to slip thru and separate trash better than the 9.5, but not as well as the 2 smaller coils. That said, if I could only have 2 coils I could do without the 5.3 and the 9.5 just fine but will keep them as backups or for when I hit the conditions where they are more useful.

I have 4 coils for my MXT. However the DD 4.5x7 hardly ever comes off. Used to live in Bishop, drove thru Minden many, many times on my way up to Reno. I often wondered about that stone building on the right side of the highway across from the Bowers mansion. I think it was about 1/2 mile before the road narrows down headed north. Good Luck.
