MXT/M6 Warranty

nc-pete

New member
I recently bought an 8 inch Excelerator Coil (Detech Coil), that Kellyco sells, for my MXT. I now understand that the use of an aftermarket coil, like this one, will invalidate the warranty on the MXT. I still have a year remaining on my 2-year MXT warranty. I see where a lot of Whites folks use the Excelerators regularly. Can using the Excelerator (or any other aftermarket coil) mess with the MXT circuitry, and would you hesitate to use one if you had warranty time left? Thanks for your help!

Pete

When Kellyco sold me my Excelerator coil they knew I was buying it for a new MXT they said nothing about invalidating the warranty. The warranty that came with my MXT does not state that. It states [ the warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, misuse, neglect, alterations, modifications, unauthorized service, or prolonged exposure to corrosive compounds, including salt ]. It does not say you can't use a aftermarket coil or a DX1 pinpointer as long as they are designed for your MXT. What it states is that you can not alter or modify a coil to fit the MXT that was not designed for it.

Bob,

Good stuff. Thanks for clearing this up for me. I am relieved.

I can assure you your White's product is still under warranty if you use the Excelerator coil or any other Kellyco coil for that matter. The search coils are completely interchangeable. There are a number of after market search coils available for most metal detectors. None have ever created any issues with warranty and have added benefits and many hours of enjoyment to the owners usage.

Hope this clears things up a bit...
