MXT / M6 question

Jerry Ga.

Member
How rain resistant is the meter pod on these two detectors? Also is there a rain jacket available for the control box? In my semi-tropical part of the country it pays to be ready for a downpour when relic hunting in the woods far from your vehicle. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

White's haven't made any rain gear for the MXT. I have used clear plastic bags large enough to slip over the control box and then tie the ends around the rod. Fast and easy to cover your machines. Hope that helps. HH, Nancy

I don't know of a cover for the box, but White's does make a meter cover for the MXT/M6...............JS-RHQ....$9.95

I like Nancy's idea of a large baggie, but in my opinion neither is necessary. The control pod is pretty rain proof with a seal between the two halves. The box is also well built with O ring seals on the switches and potentiometers and even the speaker is sealed and made of Mylar.

Not waterproof, but certainly good enough for a good soaking rain, done it many times.
