MXT low battery icon came on .. ..

First time that this came on for this new detector. I've put about 30 to 40 hours on the first set.
Question to the guru users of many years with this MXT detector ,how long can you go on detecting when it indicate 8-low batteries.?
I changed them to a new set but the old set still indicated some charge when checked with the battery indicator.!
Could you still use them lets say another 5 to 6 hours or does the MXT lose some performance ?

Personally, I change them before the low battery light comes on. Usually at 10 volts, but I can hunt quite some time with the 10 volt reading. When hunting, I like to get the most out of my MXT and IMHO, with fresh batteries I don't get as much chatter. Could be a 'mental' thing??? Instead of throwing my used batteries away, Larry would use them in his machines till they died. I do have rechargeable batteries that I use at times also. Me too, I change mine every time the light comes on. Carry extra batteries on every hunt.

I've never run the batteries that low in four years. I use rechargeables and charge them before each hunt. I also keep an extra holder loaded with alkalines. I've never run lower than 10v on an all day hunt with the rechargeables.

I've never tried them but Monte posted on the main Whites site that he buys the Kirkland (Costco Brand) alkalines. They sell for around $10.85 for 48. He and several others say they work pretty good. He might chime in on this one. Rob

I generally change mine after they've read 9 for a while. Haven't noticed any difference in performance between than and fresh.

I have been using Kirkland batteries (Costco) for years and I get a lot of hours out of them. I never go lower than 10 and always have a couple of spare battery packs on hand. At around $10.50 for 48 its a good price for batteries. HH Dennis in Idaho

All of the detectors I own are pretty decent on battery life. If i get to the point where battery life is a bit of a problem it'll mean I've been able to do a LOT of detecting so I'll actually be pretty happy with that. LOL
