MXT & Larger Coil Vs Explorer

Curious if anybody has had the chance to compare the MXT using a larger coil (Hot Shot or Excellerator in the 12 to 14" range) to the Explorer II. Mainly interested in your depth findings on coins and which machine had the edge. Also interested in hearing which coil (12" Hot Shot versus 12 or 14" Excellerator) seems to give you the best depth on coins. Email or public response welcome. Thanks.

i use the dfx and mxt as you can chop and change coils willy nilly heres a little edward the 1st hammered penny of the 1200's i found yesterday on a rally in the north of england ;its not depth you realy want its sensitivity to small targets the depth then comes naturally so my main coil for the last 9 months on either machine has got to be the jimmy sierra hotshot its a silver magnet

... my computor crashed and I lost the address for the UK White's site. By the way, nice "hammy." When I learn how to post photos, I'll send you some pics of those "California hammies" (i.e. gold nuggets) we find out here. HH jim

Is the Hotshot a DD coil. I'm into some really bad ground and am curious.
Thanks..RonL

... will do, m8. I am now back on line. When you feel like it, post more pics of those cool Celtic, Roman, and Medieval "junk" (grin) that we "cultureless" Yanks can pretty much only dream about. HH, and keep up the good work! Jim

It was the QXT, and no...I've been sampling some of the new detectors out there. Just recently owned an Explorer II. Might buy an MXT next with the 14" coil. I need to push more depth at some of my sites and since the Hot Shot didn't work well with the QXT I've been trying other machines with larger coils. The EII is a good machine but there are some things I don't like about it. May go back to one if the MXT doesn't pan out.
