Howdy,
I have only had mine about a year now, and it is my First detector.
I researched for a few months while I saved money to buy a detector. And from my research, I came up with the MXT.
I read the owners manual, (and its not that big), and I watched the Video. in one day.
Then I was out hunting, it definitely did turn on and go, I even found a handful of 1940's era pennies.
then after researching more, I got the 6x10 DD coil, and I like it alot.
Then I got the book titled" The MXT EDGE" by jeff Foster, and thats when I realized, my MXT has so much more potential than what I had known.
I think its cool , that a newb to detecting , can buy a machine, and turn it on and go, and its basically simple to operate, then come to find out later, that that same machine can do some pretty awesome things.
I "never " had any regrets on my purchase of the MXT, if anything, I think "WOW ! I am soo glad I chose the MXT"
As far as hours in the field, I dont have many.
But, last year, I found a 1901 Barber Dime, and I have never actually seen one before, how cool is that ?
If you choose the MXT, with all of its availiable coils, you will not be dissappointed. And, I'm not too computer literate.
Oh, noise. You can turn down the threshold to where theres no noise, but if you want to gain some depth, its good to hear a slight threshold hum.
Basically, thats up to you.
The MXT has alot of options. Its an amazing machine really.
Good luck in your choice.
Dusty
