MXT in Relic Mode

Coinseeker 78

New member
Has anyone when using the relic mode for coin hunting found that when over coins the VDI does not lock on as well as in coin mode. Thanks in advance.

When hunting in private property, I always hunt in relic mode. I have encountered that when a deep target is whispering to be dug, it's usually right on with the VDI, unlike the Indian Cent.....it will bounce all over the place. It also depends on the soil too. Relic mode is the only way I detect when hunting for older coins and relics. HH and I wish you well, Nancy

I find the relic mode the only way to detect when looking for older and deeper coins, but that is just me and my wife the way we use the MXT. I feel it locks on better and easier to hear the targets that are deeper. We just get a good signal first then check the VDI numbers to see if it is one we want to check out futher.

Thanks for the info. When you use the relic mode do you have the trigger forward or in the middle position? Thanks for the help in advance.

Relic mode........I have the trigger forward! Good luck and HH, Nancy

Thanks again. Sometimes I get confused with the preferred settings for coin hunting. I can't say I am ignorant of how to use the MXT but I am prone to trying some of the settings mentioned on the MT Web pages. For example on a UTube movie by Toddy in England he tries to prove that Coin and Jewelry setting goes deeper than Relic.. But I have found coins as deep as 9 inches in the relic mode and like the high pitch you get on non ferrous items.

Most of the tests/ videos and testimonials are little more than entertainment. All that really counts is what works best for YOU Ron, in your ground, with your hunting style and choice of coils.

You're very welcome. I agree 100% what you stated about the depth of the two modes. I don't use any other mode unless I am in a playground or hunting surface coins that aren't deep, then I use the coin/jewelry mode. I've tried the coin/jewelry mode while hunting private properties for that old coins or relics and I always go back to relic mode. Sure wish it was warm outside. The sun is out, but we've got 23 today and then the bottom is to drop out! [attachment 115091 freezing.jpg]

After using the relic mode I don't know how anyone goes back to the Coin mode. I'd just as soon my MXT didn't have it....I don't think it would be missed.

The weather s the same here and will go down to zero in a few days. It looks like I will have to go back to ice fishing until spring
