MXT Ground Tracking

OK,I looked at a MXT,I was wanting something with manual GB,but how does the auto GB work and Tracking work?
Now I feel if I dont have to worry about it the better. But what if you need to manually GB?

Read the part in the manual about Locking the GB. If you lift and lower the coil several times over the ground you wish to balance to, then set the ground toggle to "lock", the machine will hold that balance until you change it.

The M6 also has this feature. But I don't understand the benefits of it. Wouldn't it be better just to leave it in AutoTrac?

Some users will hunt with the tracking toggle in "lock", occasionally updating the ground balance by flipping into "ground" or "salt" momentarily when they start hearing too much ground noise. This is usually in ground that has a lot of nails and trash. Rob

I hunt with the auto tracking engaged most of the time. However, if I'm in a very trashy park or in an area that is quite a bit different than the surrounding area I may lock the tracking in order to keep the machine from trying to balance to the unwanted targets or mineralization. This often happens for a moment or two when holding the pinpoint trigger too long. To answer the original question, the auto ground tracking works very well over all.
