MXT Good Compliment to X-Terra 50?

I've had an X-50 (my first detector) for a bit over a year and used it almost exclusively around school and park playgrounds. Last week I decided to branch out to find something old (pre-1964), so did some research and found an old park and train station. When I gave it a try with my X-50 and the 5x10 DD coil, there was so much junk I couldn't get a clean signal. I was thinking of getting an MXT with an Eclipse 5.3 coil as a 2nd detector to try to help with the trashy site. Is this a good strategy for a 2nd unit or should I wait and save my $$ for an Explorer SE?

Thanks,
Bart

I have the X-50 and the M-6. I use the M-6 and 5.3 coil and in the 3 times that I have used it, the X-50 stays at home. The M-6 and 5.3 coil has made some real good finds in a area that I have been over with other units and other people have been over with other units.
This area has so much trash in it, that it is hard to find a clean spot to ground balance. Once I find a clean spot to GB, I then lock it and hunt with the Sens at pre set and the Disc. at 9 o'clock.
I like the tone ID of the M-6.
The MXT is the big brother to the M-6,but does not have the tone ID.

Minelab was to have had a small coil for the X-Terra's by last spring, now they say some time this summer.Even if they come out with a small coil, I don't think it will hang with the M-6 and the 5.3.
If you don't need the extra bells of the MXT, you might look at the
M-6. HH...BJ

Might complement your MXT. Once you get used to the MXT you will probably use the X-terra as a back up or have a friend use it who does not have a metal detector. I am not saying the X-terra is not a good detector, because it is a very good detector but I prefer the MXT to most detectors out there for it's depth, versatility and selection of coils.
