MXT for nugget shooting

I tried my MXT with 4x6 Eclipse DD and TD-80 headphones for 3 weeks in Southern NM desert, ground high 80's-low 90's. I tried every configuration that I had read of in the forums over the last year and still haven't learned how to filter out the hot rocks. A friend uses and recommends the GoldBug2 for that area. I love my MXT and haven't given up on it for prospecting but my ears are still ringing. Does anyone have some new information or suggestions?

Alan, several short passes of the MXT over suspected hot rocks, while in the prospecting mode, with autotune engaged, will tune out most hot rocks. ALL VLF's will respond to hot rocks, but autotune machines will tune them out, if properly used. Biggest key to success: be where nuggets ARE. As I always mention in my books, "if there are no nuggets there, you won't find any." HH Jim

Hey alan i to use my mxt for nuggetshooting i only have had it for about 1 mo but i love it i was out saturday and found the best settings for me was the gain on preset the sat on the hyper setting and then i tune it to a 2.5 grain test nugget and lock the grond balance i hope this helps i have found tons of bird shot so i know i will find gold with this setting

Thanks to all for the suggestions, I will certainly try again in that hot ground. That MXT is awesome so any problems are with the operator.....me. Thanks again.
