MXT Finds Gold

Found these items one afternoon in a park where they play alot of soccer. I used the 8" Excelerator coil. CJ Mode, trigger in center, auto ground balanced locked. I have found also that the MXT is a killer on nickles. Using the 8" Excelerator coil if the target has a vdi reading 14-18 from all angles and not above it will be a nickle 90% of the time. Both of these rings which are 14k gold had a VDI reading of 14 and locked on at that reading. The ground here in southen california is very mineralized and the execlerator coil is smoothe as butter compared to some of the other coils I have tried.

I was wondering if my MXT was really a serious gold machine? Does anyone have any opinion about whether I need a 5" round coil to be serious about gold. I have purchased the new 4.75" x 7" offered thinking it might help in the gold department. It has not yet arrived so I really cant review it. I cant help but have my doubts that maybe I should have gone for the 5" though, as it seems to be what a lot of the serious prospectors use. Open to suggestions. Eager to hear if anyone else has tried the new 4.75X7" yet?

Ah, a quick addendum to that last post. The coil I was talking about is shown on my on-line invoice as a "4X7 DD EXCEL COIL DFX/MXT". It has not yet arrived but UPS says it is in Phoenix tonight. I hope they can get it down south to Casa Grande by tomorrow. Another question I have just been dying to ask, is if gold nuggets will show up with pretty much the same readings as gold jewelry. Has anyone compared that?

Thanks a bunch!

I am not in a location where I can get out for a lot of nugget hunting so my in-field experiences with these coils are few ... however.

The 8" EXcelerator coil mentioned is one I have found to be great for 'general hunting' in grassy lawns and such. I prefer it to the stock 950.

The 5" has been my favorite EXcelerator coil and is deadly in dense trash environments.
