MXT dust or rain cover options

Hello all:
I'm happy to say I'm the proud owner of a new MXT. I've been hunting with my old trusty Troy's Shadow X2 for 7 years( would never sell) and a Tesoro Cortes ( last 2 years, selling). I've had the opportunity to relic hunt a number of times in that tough Virginia Red Soil and have seen first person how well the MXT performs. I'm really looking forward to learning and using this machine there and in PA where I live. I look forward to being an active part of this forum.

Well in any event my question is how best to protect the MXT in mud rain and snow. I know KellyCo sells a set of covers but I would like to hear about other solutions you have discovered.
I see Whites has a metal stand that seems like a good idea with not much added weight, but the cover for the control box seems to really limit any access to the switches.

I will see if I can come up with any solutions and offer them up in the next few weeks.
Thank you in advance for any advise you can offer.

Hi and congrats on your MXT purchase. It's a great machine!

As for the little stand, Larry purchased one for his DFX and it didn't stay on long. Guess it was more of a hassle than anything. I honestly couldn't see why one would want it unless they don't like to get dirty. And as to the cover. I use clear plastic bags. Large enough to go around the unit and then tie the ends. You have control of all the nobs, toggle switches, etc. and the price is right!

HH and I wish you the best of luck, Nancy

You will enjoy your new MXT, believe me. As for the stand that Whites sells, I have one on mine and my wife has one on hers. I like the way it keeps the detector housing up off the ground especially if the ground is wet and muddy. I did find that the screws that hold it on the the housing had a tendency to work out, but I used larger screws and a dab of locktie and I have had no problems since. As for a dust cover I have not found one that was worth a darn. Currently I just use baggies and they work ok keeping the head and control housing dry. If you find a good one that covers the control housing and still allows you to adjust the knobs let me know. HH Dennis in Idaho

Hey Cliff, welcome to the MXT forum. You will enjoy having the MXT, I personally think it's the best but that's just my opinion...... I also use the stand it seems to keep the detector from falling over every time you set it down, and keeps it off the ground if its wet I also use the speaker decal it keeps dirt and dust from getting in your speaker holes. I never use a cover and have not had any problems, But that being said I try to stay out of the rain.......... Keep us posted on your finds.....:whites:....:beers:

Hi Cliff,
Plain simple plastic sandwitch bag work great and I used a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe and made my own stand. I will post pictures later.
