MXT Display - messages

Some of the messages on the display are pretty self explanatory such as 1, 5, 25 cents etc. However, those that say "fail, ring, etc". - what are they suggesting ?? Is there a source book for the typical definition of these messages?

The messages are just suggestions of what the targets could be.
Example (foil )not fail likely would be that by the way the MXT is processing it.
Ring message could be a ring but could also be other metal targets that would have the composition of rings,I.E.
balls of foil ,, brass targets ,, ,pulltabs ,,,can slaw chewed up or damaged pennies etc. take your pick, anything close to the composition of valuable rings
Unfortunately the lower VDI numbers could be GOLD PLATINUM BRACELET'S made of GOLD.
As you know most of these will have to be check to see if they are those valuable finds.in other words dug.or you can leave them where they are and miss that valuable jewelry.
The MXT and all other detector model regardless of the Brands will identify the same way.unless you use True Gold Detectors

Sounds like you, like me, are new to the MXT. I would suggest you might want to look at buying "The MXT Edge" by Jeff Foster. It's amazing the amount of information packed in this book. Got mine off EBay, but I think Amazon carries it as well.

Thanks Joel! Your answer was what I assumed but was hoping for an answer with with less digging involved.
