mxt disc question

grumpy

New member
I have a question about the MXT and disc. sound on themachine; Im rather new to a MXT tho simular to the F75 ltd i usually run it has some big differences. Question is when i turn the disc to just under a nickle and that hits around 18 20 on my machine. Then when i hit a foil or trash that say reads 12 I would assume it should be silent and ignore it?? The machine sounds off just like it was not disc out at all. Is this correct operation or is something wrong or set wrong?? It matters not if the trigger is forward or center on most items. Some times a 10 will be silent when trig is forward. What am I missing here I know there a good machine but all the unnecessary racket on foil is agravating. Any help greatly appreciated ; hunting in coin mode sens at 10 and disc at just where a nickle gets fuzzy.
Thanks

It does not cancel it out it simply gives a low tone. Anything above what you have the discrimination set will give a high tone.

That is an small quirk of the mxt's and even the more simplified M6 especially running high gain. At least for me this is what I have experienced.

My MXT does the same maybe it has to do with the confidence blocks if it is a full block it will beep on the foil.
I found 3 gold rings this summer all were a VDI of 10.

OK so the MXT will not mute out the signals below the disc level; The machine changes the sound to items below the disc level: This is a problem with people like me that cant hear and certainly cant hear tones for beans. Any ideas on how to adapt this machine other than trading it off??

Is this the same system that is in the MXT PRo as far as not silenceing the disc items???

I guess I was just assuming since the F75 I have and the MXT were of like parent they would both act simular. Teach me to assume or to even think, I have not been doing well with either lately :) :)
Well I thank all for the input and if anyone has any ideas on this id appreciate hearing;
Thanks much and

Happy Happy New Year to All

On paper there should not be any target response below your set disc setting. But I know from using them that in certain instances there is some "bleed through" of rejected targets. It seems to me that running a lower gain helps. It's the nature of the beast if your trying to get the maximum performance from them.

In C/J mode the disc is disigned to mute all sound below the disc level. As already metioned, some foil targets are stronger than the nickel signal and forces through the disc level. The good part is that foil is easily recognizable on the LCD screen. I made a video on youtube demonstrating how the mxt pro has a different tone for zinc pennies and copper pennies and that it can disc out the zinc and still detect the copper pennies. This is how the disc setting is suppose to work, everything below the disc adjustment is silent but STILL shows up on the LCD screen. The difference with the mxt pro is that it has multi tunes so you know where on the VDI scale the target is without even looking at the screen. You can look all around while detecting and still know that the signal you just found is either in the nickel range, penny range, ect.

Have you tried lowering the threshold to around 9 o'clock position, this might make it more like a M6 silent search mode.
