MXT detector

New member
I use the Mxt here in Grand Cayman and it has the stock 950 coil on it. I use it and it works great for me. It goes deep. I have dug rings at almost 12 inches, and bigger trash even deeper. Although it can be chattery at times. I have used this same detector at Flagler beach and it worked great there also. If you want to change coils though, I have read in the Mxt forums that the 6x10DD coil separates your trash better and that they tend to run a little more stable. I have to turn my gain down to around 7 or 71/2 when at the water line....but up in the dry sand I can run at 9+. Hope this helps. You can post this question in the Mxt forum for more help specifically dealing with your unit, if you haven't already.

Yeow guys! I took this from the underwater section to share with you about this individual detecting in the Grand Cayman Islands, a real nice article, go there and read it when you finish here.. Cliff

To add on to this ( southernstyle ) is what you'll find it under... That should help some.. Cliff

Best coil to use on Fla. beaches, that's the title... Stay with me, i'll get it right in a minute.. Cliff........ Again!

I used to post some of my finds and things in this section, but a lot of people here are doing more coin and relic hunting. I am after the gold...And I find more of it at the beaches than anywhere else. It's not that I don't enjoy this section, just the beaches/shallow water forums deal with salt/sand/currents, tides ect.... things people in this forum don't really have to deal with. There are a lot of great people that post here, and have great knowledge on the Mxt. I may start just coping and pasting on both forums again because I do enjoy the Mxt forum.

Thanks Chris, glad you came over to help me out!! I enjoyed what you had to say, it was a good article.. Hope you continue to share your stories over here.. Cliff

hiya cliff,,could you tell me,,i was going to buy a whites machine,,either xlt,,or mxt,,,whats your opinion, and is the 300 coil or the 950 the best buy,,i am aware that usually the larger coil is a trade off in target size but maybe it aint,,,rgds comcat,,:ukflag:

Hey comcat, GET an MXT!!!!!!!! It's a turn on and GO. I've had mine for about 2 1/2 years and I have found more with my MXT than my MDing buddy with his XLT.

Hey comcat, I agree with floridason on the MXT detector and I also had the 950 and did very well, but later switch to the Eclipse DD 6X10 and now I'm doing even better than before.. I still like my XLT and use it from time to time, but I like my MXT better.. I hope this will help you out.. Cliff :detecting:

thank you,my man,,will get one then, and with the 950 coil first,,,this must be a hellova good machine??? people seem to love it,,i currently use a sovereign g.t. and its great on the beach and works well inland,,but it is slow on recovery,,but you just go a little slowwwer,,,i hope the recovery is good for the MXT ??? let me know rgds comcat,,:ukflag:

hello new to the forum and detecting i have to say its a blast i have the mxt300 and dx1probe seems to be a nice fit i was wondering about the 12inch coil it came equiped with

Lo, jwilkes, I think that the super12 coil is a good one but only if your in open fields or very little trash where your searching. I don't use mine too much here in FL a we have a lot of trash and it hard to pick out the good stuff in it. The best thing is it's size as you can cover a lot more ground. I want to soon get myself a 12 X 15 SEF (butterfly) coil to use on the soccer fields (maybe also on the LL BB fields). My main coil is the 6 X 10 DD (Whites of course)as I use it most of the time in my area. (The 12" is a little heavy for my age (75) until someone mentioned that you can shorten the lower rod into the shaft and it DOES help with the balance a good bit. It still shortens my detecting time tho. (JMHO) Thanks for looking and hope this helps. HH KC

MXT DX-1 + 4 coils

If you think the 12" is heavy, wait until you get the 12 X 15............:stretcher:.... Unless you really need the depth, the Bigfoot is the answer for covering large areas for jewelry and clad. 3" X 18", lightweight, great separation of targets and super pinpointing ability. Depth down to 6" or more in most places.

thanks for the info last night was first time on forumas i said so i spent a few hrs. giong around the board seems the process of learning my machine is going to be an enjoyment
