MXT Confused

I;ve had my MXT for about 2 1/2 yrs. Found lots of money & lots of s/s rings but very few gold rings. My settings are Gain 9/10- Duol Control 3 Coin& Jewelry mode and Ground control. What am I doing wrong?

Detecting gold items you need to up the gain to the +2 or+3 max A 6 inch DD is good as it is more sensitive and allows the gain to be set higher.
May be slow your sweep down a bit. I usually use Relic mode sensitivity at around 3.5 - 4 also I dig anything from 0-50 and I get a lot of foil and pull tabs in park areas detecting this way.

Actually I don't think settings make much difference except the disc setting. You have to just reject the iron and accept all targets above iron. I've found rings from 0 to 57. I've found them with C/J and Relic mode with gain any where from 9 to +3. I could have found some of the shallow rings with less gain but never run the gain less than 9. If your detector registers targets that are foil, tabs, screw caps, etc., it will read gold rings. If you are digging these and haven't found a gold ring you just haven't had your coil over a gold ring yet. Rob

I have not found many either but the one I found Sunday rang in at 20 it was a mans 14k band. I have been changing my settings trying to find that gold tone. I don't did a lot of foil signals and those that are static. Every time I dig a static target it is either foil or pull tab.

Hi Bula, rcasio44 &wally- thanks for the info. This is my fist week using a forum for anything, so my responces or replys may not be up to par but I will use the info and see what happens. Thanks

I agree with Rob, You just haven't had your coil over a gold ring. And if you aren't digging every signal that says foil or pulltap then you would not know if you were over a gold item or not. Every gold item I have ever dug up was registered as a pulltap or foil, never has it said gold ring.........DIG.......DIG........DIG.......:pulltab:..... To find the gold.....

Welcome to the forum and these guys KNOW what they're talking about. Basically if you are digging all signals, your coil hasn't gone over the gold. You'll find it. HH to all, Nancy
