I am considering buying an IDX Pro as a supplement to my MXT.Monte has said many good things about this machine, especially concerning it`s performance in dense trash and iron. Also my son ,who uses a Lobo ST,has a yearning for a TID detector. My concern is with the fact that it is a two filter machine;can it handle higher mineralization without substantial loss of depth? Is it`s target ID adequate for ring hunting?Ground readings on my MXT run in the low to mid 70`s in this part of Alabama.I would very much appreciate any advice on this.It would be good to supplement my MXT`s capabilities without paying a lot of money or getting something too difficult for my son to use.Thank you in advance and happy hunting.

"I am considering buying an IDX Pro as a supplement to my MXT."... Very good choice. Matter of fact, I have a few friends who have come to use their MXT almost as much as their IDX Pro now.

When I am working heavy trash sites, which is generally where I am, and especially those with smaller iron junk, I use the 5" EXcelerator coil on my MXT and do quite well.
Where the IDX Pro with a 4" or 6

Thank you very much Monte for your excellent post. It pretty much answers my questions. Luckily the MXT isn`t made in Australia so my question about needing a supplemental detector was not heresy to the rest of the forum! It is interesting to me that Whites seems to have solved most of the problems with two filter machines before the MXT came along with its software tricks. You think maybe some of the MXT`s workings owe something to the older "tector". Thanks once again Monte for all the info and happy hunting.
