I am thinking of getting another coil for my MXT and using it mainly for nugget detection. Which coil would you recommend?
Thanks.................

Shooter DD 4x6 is the one!...great coil...!!!
Jimmy Sierra has some fine coils as well! Contact them for the Hotfoot coil!
Remember... Small coils find Smaller Nuggets!... Have fun!..Best..Rich

5x10" DD, I used it prospecting and it was great. Will find gold down to 1/3 grain & can be run wide open, even in bad ground. ...Willy.

I my self would use the 14 shooter--It does pick very small lead (Thats A poor mans gold) and will go a few inches deeper--Of course you do have to have more open area to use it--If you could try one out, would be surprised on what it will do--the other coil would be the 4x6 shooter-get both and you are good to go---If I am not mistaken dont they use the 14 for gold on the Explorer?---deathwind1

Larry,
The 10" elliptic coil is the standard size coil on most dedicated gold detectors and the best choice for all around use IMO. All the Whites Goldmasters, Fisher Gold Bugs and the Tesoro Gold detectors use that size as the stock coil for good reason.
Smaller coils are good for smaller nuggets and getting into tight areas. While the bigger coils give greater depth on big nuggets they loose a lot of sensitivity on the small stuff. If you only get one DD coil, the 10" elliptics are the best all around choice.

I listed 3 DFX/MXT coils on the Findmall Classified page.
